Monday, 

March 1st

Program: Erin Garvey from Children, Youth & Family Services, Inc. giving us an update on the STAR Kids pre-K program which we supported with proceeds from last year's Dogwood Pancake Breakfast and other CYFS initiatives to help children, youth and their families.

6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Reception and Celebration of UVA Children's Center, at Alumni Hall.  Motivational Speaker, Paralympian Josh Sundquist.  RSVP to rsvp.hsdo@virginia.edu   

Monday, 

March 8th

Board meeting at 5 p.m. at the Elk's Lodge.  Following dinner which begins at 6:30 p.m., there will be committee meetings and discussion of the board meeting, ending as usual at 8 p.m.  Prospective members and guests are invited to see how efficiently Kiwanis members plan to carry out the good work that they do.

Martha Jefferson Hospital 8K Run & 4K Walk to support MJH Community Services Outreach programs promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle.  Email Joyce Lesich if you can volunteer at the beginning of the race.

March 15th

Program: Amy Wicks-Horn, of UVA's Children's Hospital. Amy will tell us the latest about the status of the plans for The Barry and Bill Battle Building to be built at the corner of JPA and West Main Street which will consolidate children's health services at UVA.  PLG Don Jones will also be making the presentation on behalf of the Capital District Foundation of a check for $3,500 in support of the Children's Hospital.

Members are encouraged to invite guests and potential new members to an evening of fellowship and fun.

Service Night at CATEC (Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center).  We will be doing some fix-up, repair work etc. in the culinary arts program kitchen.

Charlottesville K-Family Spring Service Retreat and "Kiwanis One Day" event at Camp Holiday Trails. All Key Clubbers, CKI-ers, Kiwanians invited to pitch in and help Camp Holiday Trails get ready for another big summer of fun for children with special health needs.

Special Fifth Monday service night at Jefferson Madison Regional Library on East Market Street.  We will be cleaning books in the children's library.

UPDATE: Total-K Day (K-Family)

he Circle-K Club at UVA is sponsoring a Capital District
event for all members of the Kiwanis Family! At UVA's Newcomb Hall. It will be held from 6:00 until 10:30 PM.
This event is a fund-raiser for Ronald McDonald House and has been rescheduled from February 6th.  The event will include a dance, service projects, games, food, and more. 

Saturday, 

April 24th

6th Annual Kiwanis Dogwood Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Hospice of the Piedmont program called Journeys.  This is an art therapy bereavement program for children and teens who have experienced the loss of a significant person or are living with someone who is seriously ill.

Club meetings start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, followed by club announcements, fifty-fifty, and happy dollars.  The program is introduced at 7:30 and we end generally at 8 p.m.
